ok so i was always told that im a fashion fanatic and that i should be a fashion designer. but the thing is that im not really good at literally making clothes, my mum can do wonders with the sewing machine and a bit of a material, but i suck at it. i sure have many ideas and designs i would love to see people wear but i believe that going into fashion school would be a waste of education? i really dont want to end up without no job or working for a minimum wage in an industry that is so diverse it comes and goes with every season.. u know wat i mean?
im studying psychology and media… so my other options were:
a) study psychology in uni and become a psychologist of some kind
b) become a journalist, work my way up and publish my own fashion magazine… sounds a bit like the hills doesnt it?
so what are my REAL chances in becoming a fashion designer if i cant sew? should i just stick with my other 2 options instead? any alternative options you could recommend?

well to be a fashion designer you need to come up with loads of new ideas n stuff. you should be able to think of millions of different clothes styles and stuff. i personally think you should have drawring skills to be able to reflect your image in your head on the paper.good luck

It really depends. If ur mind wants to achieve that,I would say “Go 4 it.” Lots of people wold like 2 do a lot of things but u’ll never be able 2 tell if u dont try.
Well education is really important. Think of your backup plan that you know would work if you didn’t become a fashion designer. If you go to fashion school and learn to sew and all that, what happens when you realize you don’t really want to become one? There’s where the backup plan comes. You could become a psychologist or an oceanograoher or anything that you can go to school for and be successful. You could go to Harvard Law School and become a backup lawyer.

You can’t be a designer without knowing how to make the clothes. You have to understand how construction works and how fabric falls, or your desgns will be useless. Anyway, becoming a succesful designer is harder than winning the lottery. OUt of thousands who graduate wiith degrees in fashion design, less than 1 out of a hundred ever make a career in it, andless than 1 out of 100 that do make a career have a succesful career, working as the lead designer.
